  • Prof Alexey Berdyugin
    PI: alexey@nus.edu.sg
Dr. Alexey Berdyugin received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in condensed matter physics from Moscow Phystech (MIPT). After completing a PhD and a short post-doc. at the University of Manchester with Nobel Prize laureate, Sir. Andre Geim, Dr. Berdyugin joined the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2022 as an assistant professor, where he has received the prestigious NUS Presidential Young Professorship award, and more recently the highly coveted National Research Foundation (NRF) of Singapore Fellowship Award 2024.
  • Ian Babich
    PhD student: ian.babich@u.nus.edu
I got my bachelor’s degree at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (2018-2022). During my BSc I joined biophysics department, but after a year of studying organic chemistry, quickly realized my mistake and switched focus on solid states physics. Subsequently, I joined a chair of Quantum Nanostructures Devices and Technology, where I studied superconductivity and quantum transport in planar Josephson junctions on topological insulators. After graduation, I joined quantum transport lab in I-FIM. Here I focus on fabrication of twisted multilayer Van der Waals heterostructures and measurement of their quantum transport properties. When I have free time, I like to read or watch art films while consuming liters of coffee.
  • Iakov Reznikov
    PhD student: reznikov@u.nus.edu
Grew up in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Graduated with a BSc and MSc in Physics from Lomonosov University, Moscow. Since 2022 I am a PhD student at MSE NUS. Research interests: 2-dimentional materials; heterostructures; nanoelectronics.
    Hobbies: squash, theater and photography
  • Ilya Begichev
    PhD student: ilia_begichev@u.nus.edu
I have graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. My Bachelor and Master theses were focused on optical properties of Van der Waals materials. In the science of quantum materials I see a great beauty because everything around us is inherently quantum at microscopic scale. I like playing basketball and reading all kinds of weird books.

  • Dr. Krishna Prasad Bera
    Postdoctoral research fellow: kbera58@nus.edu.sg
Krishna Prasad Bera qualified MSc in Physics with specialization in Condensed Matter Physics from University of Calcutta and MTech from IIT Kharagpur, India. He did his PhD from National Taiwan University, Taiwan. He worked as prestigious C.V. Raman Post-Doctoral Fellow at Indian Institute of Science(IISc) Bangalore, India. He was also former Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. His major research area is the demonstration of high-performance optoelectronic devices (photodetector, LEDs, and LASER) using organometallic compounds (MOF, organic and inorganic hybrid perovskite) in combination with single layer graphene. His present research interests focused on the investigation of optical and quantum transport properties in versatile twisted moiré superstructure of homo/heterobilayer utilizing graphene and TMDs materials.

  • Rui Huang
    Visiting Student
Hi, I am Huang Rui. Currently I’m a visiting PhD student from Wuhan University of Technology, working under the mentorship of Prof. Alexey Berdyugin. After my PhD study, I prefer to become a university teacher. My research interests include dielectric capacitor, ferroelectric and thin film materials. Outside of academia, I’m passionate about playing piano.
  • Lu Ji
    FYP student
I am an undergraduate student majoring is material science and engineering. I enjoyed my campus life in Northwestern Polytechnical University in China for past three years. I am now working on my final year project in National University of Singapore as an exchange student. And in the future, I will continue to persue my master’s degree also in National University of Singapore. My project is focused on using mica as stamp to fabricate 2D material heterostructure. The life of research is more interesting for me. Combining the theory knowledge with the realistic experiment, using knowledge to solve problems satisfies my mind. Hope my future research will be successful
