  • Prof Alexey Berdyugin
    PI: alexey@nus.edu.sg
Dr. Alexey Berdyugin received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in condensed matter physics from Moscow Phystech (MIPT). After completing a PhD and a short post-doc. at the University of Manchester with Nobel Prize laureate, Sir. Andre Geim, Dr. Berdyugin joined the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2022 as an assistant professor, where he has received the prestigious NUS Presidential Young Professorship award, and more recently the highly coveted National Research Foundation (NRF) of Singapore Fellowship Award 2024.
  • Dr. Daria Belotcerkovtceva
    Postdoctoral research fellow

Dr. Daria Belotcerkovtceva completed her Bachelor’s degree at Tyumen State University and her Master's degree at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology in Russia. She then pursued her Ph.D. at Uppsala University in Sweden, where her research focused on charge and spin transport in graphene-based devices. Specializing in graphene spintronics, Dr. Belotcerkovtceva investigated the use of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) graphene in advanced nanodevices, examining key aspects such as structural integrity, surface charge transfer doping, and current-carrying capacity. In her postdoctoral work, she continues to explore twisted multilayer CVD graphene, applying her expertise in device fabrication to unlock new opportunities in this field.
  • Christoph Reuter
    Postdoctoral research fellow
Dr. Christoph Reuter received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees both in Electrical Engineering with majors in Microelectronics and Nanotechnology from Technical University of Ilmenau (Germany) in 2018 and 2019, respectively. His first introduction to the field of 2D materials was during an undergraduate research internship in 2016 at IMDEA Nanoscience Institute Madrid (Spain) working on optoelectronics based on TMDCs. Between 2020 and 2024, he obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering with a work about scanning probe-based nanolithography on 2D materials, also from Technical University of Ilmenau (Germany). For his postdoctoral research at NUS, he will focus on moiré structures made of twisted monolayer tungsten diselenide (WSe2).
  • Ian Babich
    PhD student
I got my bachelor’s degree at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (2018-2022). During my BSc I joined biophysics department, but after a year of studying organic chemistry, quickly realized my mistake and switched focus on solid states physics. Subsequently, I joined a chair of Quantum Nanostructures Devices and Technology, where I studied superconductivity and quantum transport in planar Josephson junctions on topological insulators. After graduation, I joined quantum transport lab in I-FIM. Here I focus on fabrication of twisted multilayer Van der Waals heterostructures and measurement of their quantum transport properties. When I have free time, I like to read or watch art films while consuming liters of coffee.
  • Iakov Reznikov
    PhD student
Grew up in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Graduated with a BSc and MSc in Physics from Lomonosov University, Moscow. Since 2022 I am a PhD student at MSE NUS. Research interests: 2-dimentional materials; heterostructures; nanoelectronics.
    Hobbies: squash, theater and photography
  • Ilya Begichev
    PhD student
I have graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. My Bachelor and Master theses were focused on optical properties of Van der Waals materials. In the science of quantum materials I see a great beauty because everything around us is inherently quantum at microscopic scale. I like playing basketball and reading all kinds of weird books.

  • Nansi Zhou
    PhD student
Degree: BEng, South China University of Technology, 2023.
Research motivation: Try to understand a little more about this world.
Hobbies: Various sports, such as table tennis, rock climbing, and Aikido.
  • Amoz Chua
    BSc student
I am an undergraduate pursuing a B.Eng. in Materials Science & Engineering.
I am intrigued by the unconventional physics and properties of 2D vdW materials, as well as the beauty of the moiré patterns that emerge from their heterostructures.
I enjoy solo travel and collecting quirky trinkets.
  • Eugene Primak
    PhD student
I have received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in quantum optics and nanomaterials in Moscow Phystech (MIPT). My passion for physics started from a high school in Saint Petersburg Lysium № 239 where I tried out acoustics. Then at university I concentrated more on 2D materials and defects in it acting as quantum sensors. Now I am pursuing my PhD degree in National University of Singapore and working in I-FIM.
Also I am a musician skilled in playing various musical instruments. I love boardgames and fiction literature.
